Bangalore: Ather Energy's production capacity increased three and a half times, 650 e-scooters are being made every day

E-scooter and charging station company Ather Energy will increase production capacity to 35 thousand e-scooters per month. On the launch of its second production plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, the company's co-founder Swapnil Jain said that after the commissioning of this plant, now the annual production capacity has increased to four lakh 20 thousand e-scooters. Till now it was one lakh 20 thousand units per year. Currently, Ather Energy is manufacturing around 650 e-scooters every day. With the second plant, it can now make 1,200 units a day.

 

 

He said that within two years the demand for e-scooters will increase so much that every second scooter sold in the country will be an electric scooter. At present, the company can utilize only about 60% of this production capacity, but by the end of the financial year 2023-24, 100% of the production capacity will be utilized. The production capacity has been increased keeping in view the strong demand growth trend shortly. He also said that due to the increasing demand, the company has now started thinking about a third plant. He said that due to its sewage treatment plant, it is a plant with zero drainage and zero chemical waste. Directly one thousand and indirectly 500 people have got employment here. Even in the battery unit, 50 percent of the employees are women.

 

 

The plant is spread over 20 acres with an area of ​​three lakh square feet.

The new plant at Hosur is spread over 20 acres of land with an area of ​​three lakh square feet. It has two units. One unit is exclusively for battery production with five assembly lines. The second unit has two assembly lines producing e-scooters. Both the company's e-scooter models, Ather 450 Plus and Ather 450X respectively, are using 99% indigenous components.
