BJP got 6 times more donations than Congress: BJP got Rs 614 crore in 2021-22, and Congress only Rs 95 crore

According to the latest figures of the Election Commission, during 2021-22, the BJP government in power at the Center received donations of Rs 614.53 crore, which is 6 times more than the donations received by the Congress party. Whereas, the Congress party got only Rs 95.46 crore as a donation. Recently, some parties presented the latest contribution report of donations to the Election Commission, which was presented on Tuesday.

 

BJP-Congress donations increase by 28-28 percent

Talking about the previous figures, the BJP received a donation of Rs 477 crore in the year 2020-21, while the Congress received Rs 74.7 crore. That is, this year there has been an increase of 28-28 percent in the donations of both parties.

 

At the same time, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) received Rs 43 lakh as donations during 2021-22, while the AAP government in Delhi received Rs 44.54 crore as donations during 2021-22.

 

Loss for CPI-M, gain for NCP

The CPI-M received Rs 12.8 crore during 2020-21. While only Rs 10.05 crore was received this year. In this way, the party has suffered a loss of 21.7 percent. At the same time, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is the third largest party in terms of donations and received Rs 57.9 crore. While NCP got only 26.2 crores last year. NCP grew by 120 percent compared to last year.

 

EC keeps account of donations above 20 thousand

According to the existing rules of the Election Commission, all the political parties of the country have to give an account of all donations above Rs 20,000. Along with this, political parties have to report in this regard before the commission. Apart from individuals and organizations, electoral trusts also fund parties. Electoral trusts including the Prudent Electoral Trust have been a major contributor to the BJP's kitty.
