India-China Conflict: What is the stand of China's new foreign minister on India? The important statement given on relationships before the appointment

Posted on 2nd Jan 2023 by rohit kumar

China has appointed Qin Gang as the new foreign minister. He will replace Wang Yi, who served in the post for more than a decade. Qin Gang was serving as the ambassador to the US before being appointed foreign minister.

Since the appointment of the Gang, the relationship between India and China is again being seen from a new perspective. This appointment has taken place at a time when the relations between the two countries have once again soured. Recently, due to the tension between the two armies in Tawang, diplomacy between India and China is going on with a new head.

The article was written four days before the appointment

Qin wrote an article titled "How China Seizes the World" for the American magazine National Interest four days before his appointment as foreign minister. In this, Qin mentioned the border issues with India and said that the status quo between the two countries is that both sides are ready to reduce tensions and jointly safeguard the peace and tranquility of their respective borders.

America and China were held responsible for Taiwan issue

In an article written on 26 December, Qin referred to India-China relations in the context of a perception that China was ready to downplay the situation. He also spoke on the Taiwan issue and blamed the US for challenging the status quo and Japan for changing the status quo in the South China Sea.

China's development means a strong force for peace

In his article, Qin said that China's development meant a strong force for peace and not a growing force to change the status quo. The heightened tension on the Taiwan issue is not caused by China trying to change the status quo, but by Taiwan independence separatists and external forces constantly challenging the 'one China' status quo, he said.

Qin has been Jinping's protocol officer

Before becoming foreign minister, Qin was China's ambassador to the US. Earlier he also served as the Chief Protocol Officer of Chinese President Xi Jinping from 2014 to 2018. Qin's article is being seen as Beijing's views on India.
