Chinese President Xi Jinping said in his New Year's address on Saturday that China was facing "difficult challenges" as the country's COVID-19 infection spread rapidly. President Xi Jinping in his New Year message to the nation said that we have now entered a new post-Covid phase where tough challenges remain. Terming Covid as a "difficult challenge", he said that we have overcome difficulties and challenges in the past with extraordinary efforts and will continue to do the same.

 

The Chinese way of modernization will bring new opportunities

Xi Jinping further said in the address that in the year 2022, we have successfully organized the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He said that to bring new opportunities, China has prepared an ambitious blueprint for building a modern socialist country and carrying forward the great character of the Chinese nation on all fronts. The Chinese road to China's modernization sounds like a clear call of time for us to embark on a new journey, he said.

 

Xi Jinping expects GDP to exceed 120 trillion yuan

The President also talked about China's economy, saying the country's finances remain the second largest in the world and that the country is listening to the voice of development. He also said that the gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to exceed 120 trillion yuan this year. Despite the global food crisis, China has achieved a bumper harvest for the 19th consecutive year, putting the country in a strong position to ensure the food supply for the people of China.

 

Xi Jinping talked about the country's armed forces

The President also remembered former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin. He said that I pay high tribute to his great achievements and noble conduct. Please inform that Jiang Zemin died in November. Xi Jinping also talked about the country's armed forces. He said that the people's armed forces marked the 95th birthday and all the service members were marching with full confidence on the great journey of building a strong army. He further pointed out that China's third aircraft carrier Fujian was launched.
