A 15-member Indian team has been selected for the T20 World Cup, but there is likely to be a big change in this team. Mohammed Shami, who is included in the World Cup squad as a reserve player, can become a part of the team. A BCCI official told Dainik Bhaskar on the condition of anonymity that there are plans to make Shami a part of the 15-member team. That is why he has been selected for the team for the T20 series against Australia and South Africa. If he does well in both series, then you can see him bowling in the World Cup.
Why can Shami join the team?
The World Cup is going to be held in Australia in October. The pitch there is fast and seamy. The kind of bowler Shami is, he can trouble the batsmen there with his bounce and seam bowling. Also, Shami has speed. This is likely to help them a lot in Australia.
At the same time, except for Jasprit Bumrah, among the fast bowlers who have been selected for the Indian team, there is no other bowler who can bowl at a speed of more than 140. In such a situation, it is believed that a bowler like Mohammed Shami should be given a chance.
How will Shami get a place on the team?
The BCCI official said that a week before the start of the World Cup, i.e. by October 10, all the teams have to send the list of their 15 players for the last time. Teams have the right to make changes to their chosen team. In such a situation, if Shami performs well in the series against South Africa and Australia, then he is sure to be included in the team. However, before the change, BCCI will have to take permission from the tournament director.
Shami's performance in IPL 2022 was brilliant
In this IPL season, Mohammed Shami was part of the team Gujarat and he also made the team champion with his superb bowling. He took 20 wickets in 16 matches. During this, his average was 24.40. At the same time, his economy was 8.
Who will be out if Shami comes in the 15-man team?
In the Asia Cup, we saw that our fast bowling was very poor. The team did not have bowlers bowling at 140 plus speed. Avesh Khan's speed was high, but he was out of the team due to his poor form and injury. At the same time, Bhuvneshwar Kumar could not do anything special in the last over. In the second match against Pakistan, he gave 40 runs in 4 overs. At the same time, he gave away 14 runs in the 19th over against Sri Lanka. From here the match went out of India's hands.
In such a situation, if Bhuvi's performance is not good in the series against South Africa and Australia, then Shami can get a chance in his place. Avesh is not already a part of the World Cup squad.
