2.67 lakh new cases, 398 deaths in last 24 hours; Malnupiravir banned in Odisha despite Centre's approval

On Friday, 2 lakh 67 thousand 331 new corona infections were found in the country. 1 lakh 22 thousand 311 people were cured while 398 people died. In this way, an increase of 1 lakh 44 thousand 662 was registered in the number of active cases i.e. patients undergoing treatment. At present, there are 14.10 lakh active cases in the country. In the third wave, the active case has crossed 14 lakh for the first time.

 

At the same time, an increase of only 3 thousand has been seen in the new infected. Earlier on Thursday, 2.64 lakh people were found infected. So far, a total of 3.68 crore people have come under the grip of infection in the country, out of which 3.49 crore people have recovered. So far 4,85,748 people have died. The total active cases touched 1 lakh on 31 December and 5 lakh on 8 January. In this context, the total active cases have increased to 14 times in just 15 days.

 

Meanwhile, the drug regulator of the Odisha government has banned the sale and use of the drug Molnupiravir for the treatment of corona. The state government regulator has said that till it is completely proved that the drug is completely safe, its use and sale should be completely banned.

 

At the same time, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) says that it is the job of the Center to test the safety-effectiveness of any new drug and allow the use of the drug. A technical committee of the Odisha government had recommended a ban on the drug, after which it has been banned.

1. Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, 43,211 new cases of corona have been reported in the last 24 hours. During this, 33,356 people were discharged and 19 people died. The total active cases in the state have increased to 2.61 lakh. So far 71.24 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 67.17 lakh people have been cured, while 1,41,756 people have died. The positivity rate in the state is 21%.

 

2. Karnataka

On Friday, 28,723 people were found infected here, while 3105 people were cured and 8 people died. So far 31.53 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 29.73 lakh people have been cured, while 38,411 people died. Here too, the number of active cases has exceeded 1 lakh. Now 1,41,337 patients are being treated here. Here the positivity rate has become around 13%.

 

3. Delhi

On Friday, 24,383 new corona cases have been found in Delhi. This is the highest number of newly infected in a day in the state after 8 months. The positivity rate in the capital has also increased to 30%. This means that now one patient is getting infected for every three tests.

 

During the last 24 hours, 34 people have died in the capital. Although 26,236 patients have been cured. The total active cases in the capital now stand at 92,273. The total number of infected has reached 16.70 lakh, out of which 15.53 lakh people have been cured. So far 25,305 people have died in the capital.

 

4. Tamil Nadu

Here on Friday, 23,459 new cases were reported during 24 hours, while 9026 patients were cured and 26 people died. So far, more than 28.91 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 27.36 lakh people have been cured, while 36,956 people died. The total active cases here are 1,18,017. The positivity rate in Tamil Nadu has increased to 15%. On Thursday, the positivity rate here was 13%.

 

5. West Bengal

22,645 new cases have been found in West Bengal on Friday. In Bengal, 8687 patients have been cured during this period, while 28 people have died. The positivity rate here is 31%. A total of 18.63 lakh cases have been found in the state so far, while 16.98 lakh people have recovered. A total of 20,013 people have died due to corona in the state so far. Now the total active cases in Bengal are 1 lakh 45 thousand 483.

1. Rajasthan

Here on Friday, 10,307 people were found infected, while 3096 people were cured and 3 people died. So far, more than 10.18 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 9.56 lakh people have been cured, while 8,991 people died. There are 52,773 active cases here.

 

2. Madhya Pradesh

On Friday, 4,775 people were found infected here. 1020 people have been cured in the state. So far, more than 8.19 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 7.87 lakh people have been cured, while 10, 543 people died. 21,387 patients are currently undergoing treatment.

 

The admitted suspected patient died in the Covid Care Ward in the district hospital of Chhindwara. Nilesh Inwati, 19, was brought to the hospital on the night of January 13. His oxygen level was low. He was admitted to the ICU ward of Covid Care as a precaution when he had symptoms like Covid. He died on the night of 14 January.

 

3. Uttar Pradesh

On Friday, 15,975 people were found infected here. In the state, 2554 people have been cured and 3 deaths have been recorded. So far, more than 18.01 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 16.93 lakh people have been cured, while 22,949 people died. 84,440 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the state.

 

4. Punjab

On Friday, 7,554 people were found infected here. 3612 people were cured and 23 patients died. So far, more than 6.49 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 5.98 lakh people have been cured, while 16,731 people died. A total of 34,303 patients are currently undergoing treatment.

 

5. Haryana

On Friday, 8,841 people were found infected here and 3,394 people were cured. 6 people have died here. So far, more than 8.28 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 7.74 lakh people have been cured, while 10,091 people died. A total of 41,420 are currently undergoing treatment.

 

6. Gujarat

Here on Friday, 10,019 people were found infected, while 4831 were cured and 2 people died. So far, more than 9.06 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 8.40 lakh people have been cured, while 10,144 people died. A total of 55,798 patients are currently undergoing treatment.

 

7. Chhattisgarh

On Friday, 6,153 people were found infected here. 4083 people were cured in the state and 5 patients died. So far, more than 10.50 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 10.05 lakh people have been cured, while 13,639 people died. A total of 30,862 patients are currently undergoing treatment.

 

8. Bihar

On Friday, 6,541 people were found infected here. 3829 people were cured and 2 died in the state. So far, more than 7.75 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 7.29 lakh people have been cured, while 12,123 people have died. A total of 34,084 patients are currently undergoing treatment.

 

9. Jharkhand

On Friday, 3,749 people were found infected here. 2807 people were cured in the state and 3 patients died. So far, more than 3.99 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 3.60 lakh people have been cured, while 5,192 people died. A total of 33,189 patients are currently undergoing treatment.
