Kolkata, March 26 (IANS) As many as 47 candidates filed their nominations for the first phase of the Lok Sabha election in West Bengal on four seats, an Election Commission official said Wednesday.
The deadline for filing papers for the April 17 polls to Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar in the northern part of the state expired during the day.
The scrutiny of nominations would be done March 27, while March 29 is the last day for withdrawal of candidature.
"As many as 12 candidates have filed papers in Cooch Behar, 13 in Darjeeling, 12 in Jalpaiguri and 10 in Alipurduar," assistant chief electoral officer Amitjyoti Bhattacharji told reporters here.
