MI vs RR: 19-meter run backwards and full body in the air, didn't miss this wonderful catch of Sandeep

Posted on 2nd May 2023 12:06 pm by rohit kumar

In the 42nd match of IPL 2023, even though Rajasthan Royals had to face defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians, Sandeep Sharma stole the show at Wankhede due to his fielding effort. Running 19 meters backwards, Sandeep took perhaps the best catch in the history of IPL, the video of which is going viral on social media.

Incredible catch by Sandeep

Actually, the team of Mumbai Indians was moving very fast towards the target of 213 runs. Suryakumar Yadav was creating havoc with the bat and was thrashing every Rajasthan bowler. In such a situation, Captain Sanju Samson handed the ball to his most trusted bowler Trent Boult. On the fourth ball of the over, Surya went to play a big shot against Boult and the ball stood in the air with an inside edge of the bat.

Sandeep Sharma, standing inside 30 yards, quickly ran towards the catch and took probably the best catch of IPL 2023, running 19 meters backwards. While taking the catch, Sandeep was completely in the air and despite falling on the ground, he did not let go of the ball at all. Even batsman Suryakumar could not believe this catch of Sandeep and he kept looking at Sandeep for a while.

Tim David snatches victory from Rajasthan

Mumbai Indians needed 17 runs in the last over to win. The match was going to be nailed and the fans were expecting the result of the match to be on the last ball. However, Tim David had something else in mind. The Mumbai batsman finished off the match by hitting three sixes off the first three balls of Jason Holder's last over. David faced just 14 balls and scored an unbeaten 45 at an incredible strike rate of 321.
