5G in India: Department of Telecommunications announced, metros will get the gift of 5G network first

The whole country is waiting for the commercial launch of 5G but no official statement was given yet. Now the Department of Telecom has said that 5G will be launched first in metro and big cities.

 

 

In a statement issued by the Department of Telecommunications, it has been said that 5G will be launched first in big cities like Gurugram, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Pune and this launch will not be on a trial basis, but on a commercial basis. Let us tell you that Vodafone Idea, Jio, and Airtel are already trialing their 5G networks in these cities.

 

 

According to a report in the Indian Express, the auction of a new spectrum for 5G will be held in March-April 2022 and after that, the 5G network will be launched, although no statement has been made regarding the price of the spectrum. If the price of the spectrum is high, then 5G plans will also be expensive.

 

There has been a discussion on whether they are very expensive or not. And I think several things can be done to make sure there is money to build coverage for Indian people,” Magnus Iverbring, chief technology officer for the Asia Pacific at Ericsson, told The Indian Express in a recent interview.
