5G Spectrum Auction: Auction of 5G spectrum begins, Ambani and Adani companies face to face

Posted on 26th Jul 2022 03:00 pm by rohit kumar

The online auction process for the 5G spectrum in the country has started today. Four companies including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Adani will be involved in this auction process. During this period, bidding for a 72 GHz spectrum worth Rs 4.3 lakh crore will take place. The bidding process began at 10 am on Tuesday and will continue till 6 pm.

5G spectrum auction process may continue for two days

According to DoT sources, the time taken for the auction process will depend on the bids to be taken for the 5G spectrum and the strategy of the bidders. According to experts, the auction process can continue for two days. During the auction of the 5G spectrum, along with existing telecom service providers Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, Gautam Adani's company Adani Enterprises, which entered the telecom sector for the first time, will also bid.

Department of Telecom is estimated to get revenue of one lakh crore rupees

The Department of Telecommunications is expected to get revenue in the range of Rs 70,000 crore to Rs 1,00,000 crore from the auction of the 5G spectrum being held for the first time in the country. After the completion of the 5G spectrum auction process, the way for 5G services to start in the country will be cleared. According to experts, after the auction of the spectrum, 5G services can start in the country by the end of this year. According to technical experts, 5G services will be up to ten times faster than the current 4G services in the country. After the commercial launch of the 5G service, the internet user experience in the country will change to a great extent. In the field of health services, a new revolution is expected with the introduction of 5G services.

Reliance Jio, Adani Enterprises, and Airtel will compete for 5G

During the auction of the 5G spectrum, there can be competition between Reliance Jio and Airtel. Both the companies have claimed that they will be the leader in bringing 5G services to the masses. It is expected that Jio can bid big during the auction. Airtel too would like to leave no stone unturned to be ahead in this competition. At the same time, limited bidding is expected from Vodafone-Idea and Adani Enterprises during the auction. Market experts believe that aggressive bidding during the 5G spectrum auction is unlikely as there are only four players in the fray.

Reliance Jio deposits Rs 14,000 crore ahead of the auction

Before the auction of the 5G spectrum, Reliance Jio deposited an amount of Rs 14,000 crore with the Department of Telecommunications under the auction process. At the same time, an amount of Rs 100 crore has been deposited by Adani Enterprises. Today, given the auction of the 5G spectrum, there is a lot of excitement at Sanchar Bhawan in New Delhi.
