Bhubaneswar, Feb 10 (IANS) The thumping victory of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi assembly election was reflected in the Odisha assembly Tuesday as the ruling BJD targeted the Congress and the BJP, stating that the people were searching for alternative politics other than the two national parties.

The matter was raised during zero hour by BJD member Ranendra Pratap Swain in the assembly.

"The victory of AAP shows that people are searching for alternative platform and alternative economics. While Congress failed to open its account in the Delhi election, BJP, which had given a call for a Congress-free country, has also been decimated," said Swain.

He said the national parties are redundant as people were preferring alternatives other than the BJP and Congress.

"People are in search of an alternative that can provide an alternative thinking, new opportunities, people are searching for some route other than the BJP and Congress," said the BJD MLA.

"The future will decide that route," he added.

However, opposition chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati said the state has made no progress during the 15 years of the BJD rule.

Congress leader Nabakishore Das told reporters that the people of Odisha would throw the BJD government out of power in the 2019 election as it has failed to perform in the state.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and his party for the tremendous victory in the Delhi election.
