Anti-Modi slogans on the walls of a Hindu temple in Australia: Incident at Brisbane's Laxmi Narayan Temple, earlier the Indian Consulate was attacked here

Cases of attacks on temples are continuously coming to the fore in Australia. Now there has been an attack on the Shri Lakshminarayan Temple in Brisbane. According to the report of Australia Today, this attack has been done by Khalistan supporters. Here unknown people wrote things against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the walls. Earlier on the night of 21 February, there was an attack on the Indian Consulate in Brisbane.

 

This is the fourth incident of attack on the temple in the last two months. Firstly, on January 12, anti-India slogans were also found written on the walls of the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Melbourne. After this, on January 18, the Sri Shiv Vishnu Temple in Melbourne was vandalized. On January 23, anti-India slogans were found written at the ISKCON temple in Albert Park, Melbourne.

 

The khalistani flag was thrown in the consulate

According to reports, on the night of February 21, some Khalistan supporters attacked the consulate and threw the Khalistan flag there. When Councilor Archana Singh reached here on the morning of February 22, she saw the flag. Archana immediately informed the Queensland Police about the matter. The police arrived and took possession of the flag.

 

Hindus need to be cautious Dr. Naveen Shukla, President of the Australia Association of Ayurveda said – The incidents in Melbourne show that the Hindu community has to be a little cautious. Because of what is happening in Melbourne, a situation like Canada and America can happen here too. That's why the government will also have to pay more attention to security.

 

Baljinder Singh, an Indian origin active in the community, says – such incidents will have an impact on those who come here from India to settle and study. People doing such activities create problems for the Indians living here and for the Indians coming in the future.

Hinduism is the third-largest religion in Australia. According to the 2021 census, 6.84 lakhs Hindus are living in Australia. This is 2.7% of the population there. At the same time, the number of Sikhs is about 2.09 lakhs, which is 0.8% of the total population.

 

The great thing is that 34% of Hindus living in Australia are 14 years old and 66% of Hindus are 34 years old. Not only this, according to the statistics of July 2022, 96 thousand of Indian students were studying in Australia. It has the second-largest number of foreign students after China.
