The strong earnings were supported by higher operational revenue, growth across key business segments and a favourable shift in regulatory deferral income.

Revenue Climbs 42% on Strong Business Growth

The company's operational performance remained robust during the quarter.

Q1 FY27 Financial Highlights

Net Profit: ₹1,149 crore (▲124% YoY)

Operational Revenue: ₹9,711 crore (▲42.4% YoY)

EBITDA Margin: 31% (compared with 33.9% a year earlier)

Despite a slight moderation in margins, higher revenue and improved profitability reflected strong execution across multiple business verticals.

Regulatory Deferral Income Boosts Profit

One of the key contributors to the sharp rise in earnings was the improvement in regulatory deferral income.

During the April–June quarter:

Regulatory Deferral Income: ₹29 crore

Same Quarter Last Year: ₹504 crore regulatory deferral expense

The shift from an expense to income had a positive impact on the company's bottom line and significantly boosted quarterly profit.

Strong Growth Across Business Segments

Adani Energy Solutions reported healthy growth in several core businesses.

Transmission Business

Revenue increased 52.4%

Total Revenue: ₹3,335.3 crore

The segment continued to benefit from rising investments in India's electricity transmission network.

Distribution Business

Revenue increased 5%

Total Revenue: ₹3,520.4 crore

Stable demand and operational improvements supported growth in the distribution business.

Smart Metering Business

The smart metering segment emerged as one of the fastest-growing businesses.

Revenue increased by more than 200%

Revenue reached ₹346.9 crore

The rapid rollout of smart electricity meters across India continues to create significant growth opportunities.

Energy Solutions Platform

The company's Energy Solutions Platform delivered exceptional performance.

Revenue increased by more than nine times

Revenue reached ₹1,906.8 crore

This reflects growing demand for integrated energy infrastructure and technology-led solutions.

India's Infrastructure Push Supports Growth

Adani Energy Solutions continues to benefit from India's increasing electricity demand and ongoing investments in power infrastructure.

The company remains focused on expanding:

Power transmission networks

Distribution infrastructure

Smart metering projects

Digital energy solutions

Grid modernization initiatives

These sectors are expected to remain important drivers of long-term growth.

What Is Regulatory Deferral Income?

In the power sector, electricity tariffs are determined by regulators.

Sometimes, companies incur higher costs before revised tariffs are approved. Regulators may allow these costs to be recovered in future billing cycles.

This accounting adjustment is known as regulatory deferral income or expense.

When recorded as income, it improves profitability.

When recorded as an expense, it reduces reported earnings.

In the latest quarter, the positive adjustment contributed significantly to Adani Energy's higher profit.
