Amid rising mobile recharge costs, state-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced its limited-period Freedom 2.0 offer. Under the promotion, eligible new customers can get a new BSNL connection for just ₹1, along with voice, data and SMS benefits.

The offer reportedly began on August 12, 2026, and is scheduled to remain available until September 12, 2026.

1GB Data and Unlimited Calls for 24 Days

The biggest attraction of the BSNL Freedom 2.0 offer is its combination of benefits at the ₹1 introductory price.

Eligible new users can reportedly get:

Unlimited voice calls to any network across India

1GB high-speed data per day

100 SMS per day

24 days of validity

A new BSNL connection

The offer could appeal particularly to customers looking for an affordable secondary number or those considering switching to BSNL.

Who Can Get the BSNL ₹1 Plan?

The promotional offer is aimed at new connection activations. Existing BSNL subscribers cannot simply add the ₹1 offer to their current numbers.

Customers interested in the promotion can approach a BSNL customer service centre or authorised retailer to apply for a new SIM and connection.

Availability and activation conditions may vary by telecom circle, so customers should confirm the applicable terms with their local BSNL retailer before purchasing.

How to Activate the BSNL Freedom 2.0 Offer

Customers who want to take advantage of the offer can follow these steps:

Visit a nearby BSNL customer service centre or authorised retailer.

Request a new BSNL connection under the Freedom 2.0 promotion.

Complete the required KYC and activation formalities.

Confirm that the ₹1 promotional benefits are applicable in your telecom circle.

Activate the new SIM and start using the included services.

BSNL's Strategy to Attract New Users

The ₹1 introductory offer reflects BSNL's strategy of attracting new subscribers with aggressive promotional pricing.

The state-owned operator has previously used limited-period promotional schemes to generate interest among consumers. Such offers can be particularly attractive to users looking for low-cost calling and data options as competition in India's telecom market continues.

BSNL ₹1 Plan vs Private Telecom Operators

The promotional pricing gives BSNL a strong marketing advantage, particularly among price-sensitive customers. However, users should compare network coverage, 4G/5G availability, service quality and the applicable terms in their area before switching.

The ₹1 price is also a promotional introductory offer for eligible new connections, rather than a standard recharge price for all existing BSNL users.
