What is the purpose of launching Aditya L-1?

Aditya L-1 is India's first sun mission. By launching it, India wants to study the dynamics of the solar atmosphere i.e. chromosphere and corona. Along with this, he also wants to uncover the secrets of the massive energy release from the corona.

In addition, through Aditya L-1, ISRO intends to gather information on the physics of partially ionized plasma and the dynamics of space weather. Simultaneously, he intends to study large-scale eruptions of plasma and magnetic fields from the solar atmosphere.

How far is the Sun from the Earth?

Aditya L-1 will reveal the secrets of the Sun located about 1.5 million kilometers away. It will take four months to reach the Langres point ie L-1. Aditya L-1 will be placed in orbit near the Langres point. A Langres point refers to a point in space where a field of attraction and repulsion arises due to the gravitational force of two space bodies such as the Sun and the Earth. It is named after the Italo-French mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange.

How many payloads will Aditya L-1 carry?

Aditya L-1 will reach its destination with seven payloads. Through these payloads, ISRO will be helped in the study of photosphere (light circle), chromosphere i.e. the surface just above the visible surface of the Sun and the corona (outermost layer of the Sun).
