
On Wednesday, a dispute broke out at the South Asian University (SAU) in Delhi over serving vegetarian and non-vegetarian food in the same mess on Mahashivratri.
The Students Federation of India (SFI) has accused the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) of assault, although the ABVP has denied the assault. It has called it an attempt to spoil religious harmony.

Yashada, the mess secretary at SAU, has alleged that she was beaten up. She said that some ABVP-supported students had opposed serving non-vegetarian food on Mahashivratri. On the other hand, the ABVP has called all the allegations baseless. ABVP said that when the manager was discussed, 110 students said that they wanted to fast food. When the university administration had arranged for satvik food in the mess, trying to forcibly serve non-vegetarian food in it was not only insensitive but also ideological terrorism.
ABVP strongly condemns this act and demands that the administration take strict action against the goons who resorted to violence to spoil the cordial atmosphere and hurt the religious sentiments of the fasting students.
