After the border dispute between Pakistan and Afghanistan, now tension has also increased regarding terrorist attacks. Pakistan's Home Minister Rana Sanaullah has threatened that Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) safe havens in Afghanistan may be attacked. In response, the Taliban government of Afghanistan has said that such attacks will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Afghan Defense Ministry said in a separate statement – Pakistan should stop making false allegations against our government.

No one approves of attacks

Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid responded to the threat from Pakistan Home Minister Rana Sanaullah on Monday. Mujahid said – No one will be allowed to attack the soil of Afghanistan. We all indeed want good relations with our neighbors, but this should not be understood as a weakness.

Taliban spokesperson said- If Pakistan has any problem, it can inform our government about it. No country has the right to attack the territories of other countries. We hope that Pakistan will talk to us about this. Our army has so much strength and capability that it can respond to attacks.

Describing Sanaullah's statement as baseless and provocative, the Afghan Defense Ministry said – such matters should be resolved through dialogue.

what is the reason for the dispute?

On 15 August 2021, the Afghan Taliban captured the entire Afghanistan along with Kabul. There are two factions of the Taliban. First- Afghanistan Taliban. It has people from many communities including Tajik, Uzbek, Pashtun, and Hazara. Second- TTP means Taliban Pakistan. It consists mostly of Pashtuns and Pathans. They are active in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Waziristan of Pakistan.

The aim or say the ideology of the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan Taliban is the same. Both want to implement hardline Islam and Sharia law. TTP says that Pakistan is a half-incomplete Islamic country and Sharia law should be fully implemented here.

TTP attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Waziristan, and other parts of the country to enforce their terms. Recently, he carried out a fidayeen attack in the capital Islamabad. A police officer was killed in this and many people were injured.

The biggest difficulty of the Pakistani army and government is that now the rebels of Balochistan have also joined hands with TTP. Overall, these are very dangerous signs for Pakistan. On the other hand, the Afghan Taliban are fully supporting TTP. The Afghan Taliban do not even accept the Pakistan-Afghanistan border i.e. Durand Line. Due to this dispute, there was a lot of firing in the past. Many soldiers and common citizens of Pakistan were killed in this.

Durand line issue

Pakistan and Afghanistan are separated by a border. This is called the Durand Line. Pakistan considers it a boundary line, but the Taliban clearly say that Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state is its part. The Pakistani army has done fencing here with barbed wire.

On 15 August 2021, the Sultanate of Afghanistan was captured by the Taliban. He made it clear only after 5 days i.e. on 20th August that Pakistan will have to vacate the part of Afghanistan because the Taliban does not accept Durand Line.

Pakistan opposed this and deployed an army there. After this, the Taliban blew up the Pakistani check posts there. Many Pakistani soldiers have been killed in this area and many are under the control of the Taliban. Only last week, 6 Pakistani soldiers were killed in Taliban firing.

Pakistan's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar visited Kabul in late November last year. The purpose of his visit was to persuade the Taliban regime of Afghanistan to stop tearing down the fencing on the Durand Line and prevent TTP from carrying out attacks in Pakistan. However, within 24 hours of Hina returning to Pakistan, the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul was attacked and heavy firing started on the border.
