India successfully test-fired Agni Prime New Generation Ballistic Missile off the coast of Odisha at 9:45 am today. Agni Prime missile is a new generation upgraded version of Agni class missiles. Its range is between 1,000 and 2,000 km. Defense officials said that during the flight, the missile successfully met all the test objectives. With the third consecutive successful flight test of the Agni Prime missile, the accuracy and reliability of the system have been established.

The defense official said that the Agni Prime missile is capable of hitting the target from 1000 to 2000 km. He said that this missile is equipped with MIRV (multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle (MIRV) technologies. The double-stage and solid fuel-based Agni Prime missile are guided by a navigation system based on Advance Ring Laser Gyroscope. Its guided system is fully equipped with the electromechanical actuator.
