A new twist has come in the matter of urinating on a female passenger on an Air India flight. The lawyers of accused Shankar Mishra have put forth arguments in his defense. The lawyers have claimed that Shankar Mishra had given Rs 15,000 as compensation to the woman. Lawyers say that Shankar had also returned the woman's clothes after washing them. However, a WhatsApp chat between Shankar and the victim's daughter revealed that the family had returned the money.
Accused Shankar Mishra issued a statement
Shankar Mishra has stated through his lawyers Ishani Sharma and Akshat Bajpai. Shankar said in the statement that he had gotten the woman's clothes and bags cleaned on November 28. The woman's belongings were returned on 30 November.
The woman did not want to file a complaint
The statement further said that the woman in her message categorically condemned the alleged act. However, he did not intend to complain. The complaint of the woman was regarding the adequate compensation being paid by the airline. The woman complained about this on 20 December. On November 27, there was allegedly a conversation between the victim and Shankar Mishra on WhatsApp. The victim gave her number to Shankar and Rs 5,000 was sent to him. The woman said in the chat that the daughter and son-in-law are very sad due to this incident. The victim had told Shankar that she convinced him not to file a complaint, as he was very apologetic and was quite ignorant of the incident.
Victim unhappy with Air India staff
The woman said in the chat that she hoped Shankar would reform himself. In response, Shankar promised that he would never repeat such an act. The woman apologized to Mishra, saying she was unhappy with the Air India staff. The next day, Shankar told the victim that he had sent her clothes and shoes for cleaning. Shankar had also written about sending Rs 10,000.
No eyewitness to the incident – lawyer
At the same time, Shankar Mishra's lawyers said that the statements recorded by the cabin crew before the inquiry committee showed that there was no eye witness to the incident. All statements are just false evidence. An agreement has also been reached between both parties.
Female passenger accused of urinating
Significantly, Shankar Mishra is accused of urinating on his co-passenger in the business class of Air India coming from New York to Delhi under the influence of alcohol. This incident happened on November 26 last year. Delhi Police has registered a case in the matter.
