new Delhi. Flights have been operating on domestic routes since May 25, 62 days after the nationwide lockdown. In 15 days, all companies are operating flights based on the instructions of the air traffic regulator DGCA. The 20-day data shows that airlines are currently flying with 33% capacity. There are more number of people going from big cities to small cities, while demand is zero on the tourist route.

However, international flights are still banned. But companies can use chartered flights or any flight to bring back stranded Indians abroad. This Vanda is apart of India. Chartered flights do not stop. Currently, four major airlines operate IndiGo, Spice Jet, Air India, Go Air Flights.

How many flights are operating in India?

On normal days, 2,700 domestic flights operated. Currently, only one-third of the flights are operated. That is, there are about 900 flights.

How many routes are currently operated on flights?

About 383 routes are operating after the lockdown. Currently, the highest number of bookings are available for non-metro city routes. The most commonly booked routes are Delhi-Patna and Mumbai-Banaras. Along with this is Delhi-Bagdogra, Bengaluru-Patna, Delhi-Srinagar. That is, the highest number of flights are being booked for cities like Patna, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati.

Which route has occupancy? Which route has more and less?

More occupancy is from Mumbai to Varanasi, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi. A little bit is also for Bengaluru.

What is the situation at Tourist Place right now?

No one is going to the Tourist Place at this time, because 14 days after leaving and 14 days after arrival, the quarantine rule may apply. Restaurants, bars, pubs are closed on Tourist Place, so people are reluctant to go here.

What was the load factor earlier on Total Routes and now how much?

The load factor was 80–90 percent before Covid. Currently, it is 60 percent. Although sometimes even before the season, the load factor reaches 60 percent.

What does DGCA say?

DGCA Chief Arun Kumar says that according to the schedule we have just given to airlines, 33 percent have to operate flights on the route. They are currently operating at 23-25 percent as each state has its own rules. According to DGCA, in the first phase, flights will be operated on all routes. Under this, flights will fly from 35 cities and in 39 cities.

These airlines are filling flights with 33 percent capacity

Indigo

According to Indigo's website, it has a total of 262 aircraft. It used to fly on 63 domestic routes. Right now, according to 33 percent rules, the company is flying 86 flights. It operates on about 20 routes.

Go air

Total flights - 330 flights (270 were domestic and the rest were international). It flew at 36 destinations. Currently, the company is operating 40 to 50 flights. It is currently flying on a total of 15-18 routes.

Spicejet

Spice Jet had a total of 600 flights before the Covid-19 and it flew at 64 destinations. The company currently has 85 flights and is flying at 41 destinations. According to DGCA, the load factor of SpiceJet was 93 percent in February and 85 percent in March. It was 60 percent in May. Currently, 7 flights are flying from Mumbai.

Air India

A spokesperson for the state-run Air India said that before the Covid-19, the company operated 172 Fleets. He operated on a total of 56 destinations on the domestic route. Currently, Air India is flying 33 percent of the flights as per DGCA regulations. This means flying 56 flights on 18 routes.

Air India said that in the first phase, it sent flights to 19 destinations in a total of 12 countries under Vande India, while in the second phase it sent flights to 63 destinations from 49 countries and 51 destinations to 41 countries in the third phase. Air India said that demand is gradually increasing. It also said that it is also flying aircraft at tourist destinations.

World's fifth-largest market

India is the fifth largest aviation market in the world and was targeted to make it the third-largest market in the world in the next four to five years, but due to Corona, this goal has gone back many years.

4500 flights were operated every day

About 4500 domestic and international flights are operated from India every day, of which about 600 were international flights. About 900 flights operate every day from Delhi alone.

Such rules changed in unlock

By 15 June, the central government had directed to fly 33 percent of the aircraft. It has been increased to 50 percent from 16 June. However, it will be reviewed by the aviation companies whether there is demand or not, after this, a decision will be taken to fly it.

A Go Air spokesperson said that it was the state government's rule to fly only 25 flights a day from Mumbai to June 15. It has gone to 50 flights since 16 June. That means 50 will now fly and 50 will land. When Mumbai is closed it is difficult to fly anywhere. There were 1,000 flights to and from Mumbai airport at Covid-19. Go Air now has the approval to fly 6 flights from Mumbai.

This is not the time to experiment

Airline companies say airlines have little scope to experiment at this time. Earlier, when starting the sector there was a 40–50 percent load factor even then it used to go on. But now the situation is reversed. Now you have to operate it thoughtfully. One has to keep a check on expenses.

Aviation companies say that if the ministry had not imposed a cap, anything could have been rented. However, there is a cap on rent right now. Companies say that the cost to follow the rule regulation is pilot quarantine, then the cost also falls on the company. The company's cast increases.

Not only this, the flight that is going on comes empty in return. Such as a flight from Mumbai to Srinagar, but not a single seat is booked on arrival. Patna or Ranchi or Varanasi is likewise. People are moving from big cities like Delhi to a small city but not coming back.

Until the whole economy opens, aviation will not open

A Leading Airlines spokesperson said that if the economy opens, airlines will run. Where will the airlines run when the economy does not open? The hotel is closed. Where will people meet? It can take 30 days for a two-hour meeting. Because the quarantine rule may apply when 14 days go and 14 days. So airlines are in trouble right now.

The Center for Asia Pacific Aviation India (CAPA) has said in its report that the country's airlines earn the most in the April-June quarter, but the companies will have to bear heavy losses this year due to the lockdown.

Due to flight closures, fuel, ground handling, airport charges are being saved, but salaries, allowances, lease rent, and minimum maintenance and interest payment companies will have to be paid. Aviation companies make 90% of their revenue from passenger travel.

First-quarter loss

A total loss of Rs 27,000 crore has been feared to the airlines between the first quarter i.e. April to June. GS Bawa, former general manager of the Airport Authority of India, said data from the IATA (International Air Traffic Association) says that the global aviation industry suffered a loss of about $ 25 billion (Rs 1.8 lakh crore) due to the Covid-19 outbreak. May be required. In such a situation, the aviation industry will need an economic package to make up for the loss.

Icra said that in the last week of May the load factor of the airlines ranged from 44 to 57 percent. However, the aviation sector may have to wait for double-digit growth. Whereas during January to May domestically the load factor declined by 43.39 percent. From June 1 to June 20, a total of 67,000 passengers have traveled by flight. The number of passengers per flight was 138 in May, down from 102 on 14 June and 89 on 20 June.

Statistics show that between January and May 2019, a total of 58.6 million passengers traveled on the domestic route. This year it has come down to 33 million in the same period. The total loss in the first quarter is expected to be $ 3 to 3.6 billion. Half of this will be to the airlines, while half to the airport.

Bad effect on economy

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic and the lockdown, India's economy, including countries around the world, has been badly affected. Aviation industry experts say that it will take at least six months to build trust after people completely end the ban.

According to the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), India's aviation industry has lost about Rs 8,400 crore in March due to cancellation of flights and their total revenue had fallen by about 40%. In normal days, Indian airlines used to get revenue of about 400 crores every day.

Market share of these companies in the domestic market

According to an ICICI Securities report, IndiGo is expected to lose Rs 5494 crore during the initial 21-day lockdown. While SpiceJet has incurred a loss of about 1412 crores. Other airlines have also suffered heavy losses due to the lockdown. Explain that Indigo has a 47.5% share in the domestic market. SpiceJet holds a 16.5% stake. Talking about GoAir, it has a 10.02% stake in the domestic market.

Air India earns 90 percent from passenger travel

According to an estimate, Air India is expected to incur a loss of Rs 30 to 35 crore per day due to the cancellation of domestic and international flights during the lockdown. According to Air India, due to flight closure, fuel, grounded handling, airport charge are being saved. Let us know that the daily income of Air India is about 60 to 65 crores. Of this, 90 percent of the revenue is from passenger travel.

According to Air India, the passenger travel earnings were completely stalled at the time of the lockdown. The airline has to spend Rs 250 crore per month as employee salaries, while the lease and rent of the aircraft cost around $ 30 million per month. Airlines have leased around 21 Boeing B787-800s. While besides, 27 Airbus A320Neo planes have to be leased.

Air India has to pay fares for a Boeing B787 aircraft at $ 1 million or $ 1 million per month. While A20Neo aircraft have to pay US $ 400 million. Apart from this, the airline has to pay 225 crore rupees per month in the form of other types of interest. The company holds an 11.5% share in the domestic market share.

These airlines are already bankrupt

Airlines in India like Jet, Kingfisher, Air India have already gone bankrupt, now because of the current crisis, other airlines are likely to go bankrupt. According to a report by ICICI Securities, IndiGo and SpiceJet are expected to lose Rs 230 crore and Rs 525 crore, respectively, in the next financial year.
