The team for Asia Cup may be final on Monday; Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul will return

The schedule for the Asia Cup 2022 to be held in the United Arab Emirates later this month has been announced by the Asian Cricket Council on Tuesday (August 2). The tournament was earlier scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka, but due to the political and economic situation, Sri Lanka was unable to host the event, due to which it was moved to the United Arab Emirates, with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board retaining the hosting rights.

The Asia Cup is starting on August 27 and its final match will be played on September 11. After the schedule of the Asia Cup, the teams involved in it started announcing their squads. Pakistan has announced its 15-man squad for the Asia Cup on Wednesday (August 3). At the same time, according to the report, the Indian team can also announce the team on Monday. The deadline for announcing the squad for the Asia Cup is August 8. Three matches of the ongoing five-match T20 series against West Indies have been played. The fourth and fifth matches will be played on August 6 and 7. This series will end on 7 and according to a report in InsideSport, the BCCI will reveal the team on Monday.

According to the website, the selection committee will meet in Mumbai, and captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid will join it through video conferencing. Arshdeep, who played his first T20 match against England, has been given a chance in all three matches in the T20 series against West Indies and Asia. His name is also in discussion for the cup. Top-order batsman KL Rahul will also be included in the squad but will travel to Dubai only after he clears the fitness test. Virat Kohli will also be seen playing in the Asia Cup. He has been rested after the England tour.

A top BCCI official told InsideSport, “The selectors are selecting the team through virtual meetings. But this time they will meet and select the Indian team for the Asia Cup. We are confident that KL Rahul will recover before this event. The team needs its best players.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan plus a team will be part of the Asia Cup 2022 through qualifiers. The first match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 will be held on Sunday 28 August at the Dubai International Stadium. This match will be no less than a great match, while the second match can be held on 4 September. The ACC has made the schedule somewhat different this time, where 6 teams have been kept in two groups. In the group stage, all the teams have to face the other two teams in their group.
