Andhra Train Accident: Two passenger trains collide in Andhra Pradesh, 13 dead so far, 50 injured

A major accident occurred in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday due to a massive collision between two trains. So far 13 people have died in this accident, while 50 people have been injured. This accident took place between Kantakapali and Alamanda stations in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, East Coast Railway's CPRO Vishwajit Sahu said that all the passengers injured in this train accident have been admitted to the nearest hospital.

The Central Government and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh have announced compensation to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the train accident. At the same time, PM Modi talked to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav regarding this accident and took stock of the situation. PMO said that officials are providing all possible assistance to the people affected by this accident. The Prime Minister has expressed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Relief and rescue operations continue

The Public Relations Officer of Railways said that relief and rescue work is going on after the train accident in Andhra Pradesh. Many railway officials have reached the spot. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that except for the derailed and affected coaches, all have been removed from the spot.

 

He further said that the next 11 coaches of the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train have been shifted to the next Alamanda station. At the same time, 9 coaches behind Visakhapatnam-Rayagada have been taken back to the previous station Kantakapalle.

Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train departed from Visakhapatnam on time as per schedule. At the same time, the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train left after 15 minutes. Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train was standing at a distance of 200 meters from Kantakapali and Alamanda stations. Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train coming on the same track was hit. Due to this collision, two coaches of the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train derailed. The engine of the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train also derailed.

 

40 people have been injured: Vizianagaram district administration

At the same time, news agency ANI quoted Vizianagaram district administration as saying that so far 40 people have been injured in the train accident, out of which 32 have been referred to Vizianagaram Government Hospital. One person has been admitted to Visakha NRI Hospital and two to Medicover Hospital. The condition of four people is critical. All the injured are from Andhra Pradesh.

 

The central government announced compensation

The central government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the train accident, Rs 2 lakh each to the seriously injured, and Rs 50 thousand each to those with minor injuries.

 

Andhra Pradesh CM expressed grief over the train accident

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has expressed deep grief over the accident and has directed officials to conduct rapid rescue operations. He announced an assistance of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the deceased.

 

CM Reddy said that assistance of Rs 10 lakh each will be given to the families of those killed in the Vizianagaram train accident. This assistance is for those who are from Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, the families of those who died in this accident and are from other states will be given Rs 2 lakh each. Seriously injured passengers from Andhra Pradesh will get Rs 2 lakh each and seriously injured passengers from other states will get Rs 50,000.
