Major Engineering Research and Development (ER&D) companies have released their latest quarterly performance, prompting brokerages to reassess their outlook on stocks including Tata Elxsi, Cyient, L&T Technology Services (LTTS), and KPIT Technologies.
According to a report by Choice Institutional Equities, the ER&D sector is showing a mixed picture. While Tata Elxsi remains under pressure and has received a ‘SELL’ rating, brokerages see better opportunities in Cyient and L&T Technology Services. KPIT Technologies has also received an ‘ADD’ rating, despite challenges in its key overseas markets.
Tata Elxsi: ‘SELL’ Rating, Target Price ₹3,150
Choice Institutional Equities has assigned a ‘SELL’ rating to Tata Elxsi.
The stock's current market price (CMP) is around ₹3,762, while the brokerage has set a target price of ₹3,150.
Tata Elxsi's Media and Communication business delivered strong growth of 11.5%, but the Healthcare vertical remained largely flat.
The company's margins also came under pressure, declining by around 150 basis points due to one-off costs.
The combination of margin pressure and uneven performance across business segments has led the brokerage to maintain a cautious stance on the stock.
L&T Technology Services: ‘ADD’ Rating, Lakshya 31 Strategy in Focus
L&T Technology Services (LTTS) reported revenue of around $310 million.
The company is focusing on its ‘Lakshya 31’ strategy, under which it aims to achieve a 13–15% CAGR over the next five years.
The Sustainability segment has emerged as a positive area, recording annual growth of approximately 11.3%.
Considering the company's long-term growth strategy and business outlook, the brokerage has assigned LTTS an ‘ADD’ rating.
Cyient: ‘BUY’ Rating as New Business Intake Surges
Cyient has received one of the most positive views among the ER&D stocks covered in the report.
The brokerage has assigned Cyient a ‘BUY’ rating, supported by improving business momentum.
Its Transportation and Mobility vertical has recorded growth for five consecutive quarters, indicating sustained demand.
Another major positive is the company's new business intake, which increased by 64%.
Cyient's planned acquisition of TAO Digital Solutions is also being closely watched. The transaction could potentially add around $40–50 million in revenue, according to the report.
These factors have strengthened the brokerage's outlook on Cyient.
KPIT Technologies: ‘ADD’ Rating Despite European Challenges
KPIT Technologies has faced pressure from automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in Europe and Japan, affecting its recent revenue performance.
Despite these challenges, the company continues to focus on emerging deep-tech opportunities.
Areas such as hydrogen technology and drones are part of KPIT's efforts to expand its technology capabilities and strengthen its future growth prospects.
The brokerage has assigned KPIT Technologies an ‘ADD’ rating with a target price of ₹740.
