Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appeared in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court today after not appearing on ED summons in the excise policy case. The Chief Minister appeared in the court through video conferencing. He has said that I will come myself in the next appearance. Could not come this time due to a discussion on Vishwa's motion and budget session. The court has fixed March 16 as the next date of the case.
Let us tell you that ED had filed a petition in the court for not appearing. On February 7, the court sent a summons to CM Kejriwal and asked him to appear in court on February 17.
ED had reached court when he did not appear
The Enforcement Directorate had reached Rouse Avenue Court against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not complying with the summons of the central agency in the liquor scam case. The Enforcement Directorate has sent five summons to Delhi CM. But Kejriwal did not appear. After this, the investigating agency approached the court.
ED had presented these arguments in court
The complaint case was registered by the ED for non-appearance in compliance with Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, which lays down the powers of the ED concerning summons, production of documents, etc. Earlier, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju appeared before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra of Rouse Avenue Court and argued on behalf of the ED.
Summons have been issued to CM Kejriwal so many times
He had said that ED had issued summons to Kejriwal six times on different dates and called him for questioning. However, they were unable to comply with the summons every time and were deliberately not cooperating in the investigation. In such a situation, appropriate legal action should be taken against Kejriwal as per the prescribed rules. The court had fixed the hearing of the case on February 7.
Motion for trust vote presented in Delhi Assembly
Amid allegations of horse-trading by AAP MLAs and ED summons in the excise policy, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday presented a motion of trust in the Assembly. Assembly Speaker Ramniwas Goyal decided to discuss the proposal on Saturday. Kejriwal fiercely attacked the central government while presenting the proposal. He said that parties are being broken in various states and governments are being toppled by being implicated in false cases.
ED calls Kejriwal for questioning for the sixth time
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a fresh summons to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to join the ongoing investigation in the Delhi Excise Policy case. The ED has asked him to appear on February 19. Even before this, ED had sent five summons, which the Chief Minister had ignored.
Summons have been issued on these dates
ED had sent summons to Kejriwal on February 2, January 17, January 3, December 21, and November 2, but the Delhi CM did not appear. Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that Kejriwal, in his reply to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), asked that if he was not an accused in the money laundering case related to the excise policy, then why was the summons issued to him.
