The song ‘Sarke Chunariya,’ featuring actress Nora Fatehi and released in March 2026, sparked a massive controversy. Now, on Thursday, the actress appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) regarding this matter. While there, she spoke to the media and offered her clarification.
‘No Intention to Cause Offense’
Emerging from the National Commission for Women’s office, Nora addressed the media to clarify her stance on the issue. She stated, “This was simply a situation I was placed in, and I had absolutely no intention of hurting anyone’s sentiments. As an artist, I must fulfill my responsibilities. I have tendered my apology and have submitted everything in writing. The members of the Commission were very kind and helpful.”
Nora further added, “It is our responsibility to give back the love we receive from society; therefore, I have decided to sponsor the education of several orphaned girls. Following this incident, that is now our primary objective.”
Sanjay Dutt Had Already Appeared
Prior to Nora Fatehi, the National Commission for Women had summoned Sanjay Dutt in connection with this case. During his appearance on April 27, the actor apologized for the song. Furthermore, as a contribution toward social welfare and women’s empowerment, he pledged to sponsor the education of 50 tribal girls, following which he received relief from the Commission.
What Was the Entire Controversy About?
The song ‘Sarke Chunariya,’ from the film KD: The Devil, was released in March. Upon its release, the track faced severe criticism from the audience. Both the lyrics and the visuals of the Hindi song were perceived as vulgar and objectionable, triggering an uproar across social media platforms.
Subsequently, the filmmakers issued an apology and withdrew the song from all streaming platforms. Additionally, the National Commission for Women had adopted a stern stance against both actress Nora Fatehi and actor Sanjay Dutt regarding this matter.
