India added five medals on September 24, with athletics, wushu, shooting and rowing contributing to the country's medal tally. The Indian contingent now has 17 medals — one gold, seven silver and nine bronze.
The mixed 4×400m relay team of Manu TS, Poovamma MR, Vishal TK and Vithya Ramraj won silver after clocking 3:14.46. Seema Kumari also secured bronze in the women's 10,000m with a time of 32:50.05.
India Wins Silver in Mixed 4×400m Relay
India finished second in the mixed 4×400m relay, with the quartet completing the race in 3 minutes 14.46 seconds.
Vithya Ramraj produced a strong final leg to help India secure the silver medal. Bahrain won gold in a Games-record 3:12.87, while Vietnam took bronze.
The result gave India another athletics medal after Seema Kumari's performance in the women's 10,000m.
Seema Kumari Ends 16-Year Wait for 10,000m Medal
Seema Kumari won bronze in the women's 10,000m final with a time of 32:50.05.
Her medal ended India's 16-year wait for an Asian Games medal in the women's 10,000m event, with the previous medal coming in 2010.
The bronze also marked India's first athletics medal of the 2026 Asian Games.
Roshibina Devi Wins Second Consecutive Asian Games Silver
India's medal tally also received a boost from Roshibina Devi, who won silver in the women's 60kg Wushu Sanda event.
Roshibina lost 0-2 to China's Zhang Xiaoyu in the final. The medal is her third consecutive Asian Games medal, following bronze in 2018 and silver in 2022.
Shooting: Naruka and Dhaliwal Win Skeet Bronze
Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal secured bronze in the mixed team skeet event.
The Indian pair finished with 44 points after 48 shots and secured the bronze medal following a tie-break.
Rowing: Satnam Singh and Salman Khan Take Bronze
India also won bronze in the men's double sculls through Satnam Singh and Salman Khan.
The Indian duo clocked 6:13.25 in the final. The medal was India's first Asian Games medal in the men's double sculls event.
India Secures Kabaddi Medals
India's women's and men's kabaddi teams both secured places in the semifinals.
The women's team defeated Japan 50-25 and finished top of Group A after winning all three group matches. The men's team also topped its group after beating Chinese Taipei 37-21.
Both teams have therefore assured India of medals in kabaddi.
India Thrash South Korea 8-2 in Hockey
The Indian men's hockey team continued its strong run by defeating South Korea 8-2 in Pool A.
India had earlier beaten Indonesia 13-1 and Sri Lanka 16-1. The South Korea victory extended India's impressive start to the hockey campaign.
Other Athletics Results
India narrowly missed another athletics medal in the women's triple jump. Asha Ilango finished fourth with a best effort of 13.83 metres, the same distance recorded by China's Li Yi, who took bronze on the countback based on her better second-best jump.
In the men's 100m, Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh advanced to the semifinals.
Kujur finished third in his heat in 10.36 seconds, while Gurindervir finished second in his heat in 10.38 seconds.
Boxing and Fencing: Mixed Results for India
India suffered defeats in boxing and fencing.
Sakshi Chaudhary lost 3-2 to Kazakhstan's Alua Balkibekova in the women's 51kg category. Sumit Kundu was forced to concede his 70kg bout against Iraq's Ali Qasim Hamdan Al-Sarray because of an injury.
In fencing, Bhavani Devi and Shreya Gupta were eliminated in the Round of 16.
