Australia hammer 342/9 against England

Melbourne, Feb 14 (IANS) Co-hosts Australia hammered their way to 342/9 in 50 overs in their World Cup opener against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here Saturday.

Put in to bat, Australia were guided by opener Aaron Finch, who scored 135, with Glenn Maxwell (66) and George Bailey (55) scoring half-centuries. England's Steven Finn picked up 5-71, clinching a hat-trick on the last three balls of the Australia innings.
