A lawyer, Sudipta Roy, has been arrested for giving a threatening letter to Justice Rajesh Chakraborty of the Asansol CBI Court in West Bengal. The lawyer had sought bail from Mamta's close aide and TMC stalwart Anubrata Mandal. The lawyer said in the threatening letter that the judge and his family would be implicated in the NDPS case if Anubrata Mondal, a close aide of Mamata Banerjee, is not granted bail. Explain that the case of NDPS is imposed against the consumption, manufacture, purchase, and sale of narcotic substances. It is called the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, of 1985. It is called NDPS Act in short.

Anubrata Mandal was trapped in an animal smuggling case

Anubrata Mondal was arrested by the CBI on August 11 in the animal smuggling case. After that Anubrata was produced in the CBI Court of Asansol, from where he was sent on a 10-day remand. Anubrata was again sent to 14-day judicial custody on August 24. Earlier, Anubrata's lawyers had demanded bail for Anubrata Mandal on the medical ground. But the court, while rejecting his petition, sent Anubrata to 14-day judicial custody. Now he will be presented in court on 7 September.

The judge had complained of intimidation

Asansol SPL CBI Court Judge Rajesh Chakraborty had claimed that he had received threats in the Anubrata Mandal case, arrested in the cattle smuggling case. Justice Chakraborty said that he has received a threatening letter from Anubrata Mandal seeking bail. It states that if Anubrata is not granted bail, her family will be implicated in the NDPS case. TMC Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal has been arrested by the CBI in the animal smuggling case. He was also questioned yesterday in the CBI office in this case.
