Bihar Hooch Tragedy: 16 people died in Motihari, 12 in critical condition; The family said – there was a liquor party on the farm

Two deaths occurred on Friday at the Turkaulia, Harsiddhi, and Paharpur police stations of Motihari. People called it poisonous wine. Postmortem did not happen. The administration kept telling diarrhea. Then till Saturday afternoon 16 people died. The age of those who died is between 19 and 48 years. Of these, a maximum of 11 people have died from Turkaulia, 3 from Harsiddhi, and 2 from Paharpur. The relatives of those who died say that after harvesting the wheat crop on Thursday evening, there was a liquor party in the field. Came home at night and slept. In the morning, the health of many people started deteriorating. Their first father-son died in the hospital. After this, the administration sent a medical team to the village. Denied death by poisoned liquor. Till Saturday morning, the administration stood firm on diarrhea and food poisoning. Here, people are dying and 7 dead bodies were burnt by the family members without a postmortem. 12 people are serious, and no information about them is coming openly. Their relatives are in bad condition crying. The matter of drinking alcohol by these people is also coming to the fore. Here, seeing the matter getting serious, Motihari SP of Police Headquarters has been directed to investigate. A special team of the Prohibition Department from Patna is going to Motihari.

Pratima Kumari, sister of deceased Chhotu Kumar told that on Thursday he had gone to Balganga village for work. After harvesting the wheat crop, Dhrup Paswan also went to work with him. In the evening, Dhrup Paswan got him drunk. A total of 6 people had a liquor party here. Out of this 4 died. Dhrup Paswan was also included in these.

On the other hand, Shobha, daughter of the deceased Ashok Kumar, said that the father had also consumed alcohol on Friday evening. When he came home, he slept after eating a roti at night. He has a severe headache, let him sleep comfortably. His health deteriorated on Friday morning. When taken to Sadar Hospital, he was referred to Muzaffarpur. He died during treatment.
