The three municipal corporations (Delhi MCD) have been merged into one in Delhi. The Modi cabinet on Tuesday approved the integration of the three municipal corporations. Delhi MCD integration bill likely to be introduced in Lok Sabha today. BJP has issued a whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs to be present in the House today. It is being said that a bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha regarding the integration of East Delhi, North Delhi, and South Delhi Municipal Corporations.

State Election Commission did not announce the election dates

Significantly, on March 9, the Delhi State Election Commission held a press conference. The dates for the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections were to be announced in the press conference, but it was postponed. The Election Commission had said that the Lieutenant Governor has sent a letter informing him of the intention of the Central Government for the integration of the three municipal corporations. Because of this, the Commission had postponed the announcement of the date of the corporation elections. The commission says that the municipal elections should be held before May 18. For this, notification will have to be issued by April 18.

AAP is the attacker

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party of Delhi is a constant attacker on the Modi government for postponing the dates of MCD elections and integration of the municipal corporation. On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has given an open challenge to the BJP. Kejriwal said that the BJP calls itself the biggest party of the country, but fearing the small Aam Aadmi Party, it is trying to postpone the municipal elections. He further said that if BJP shows victory by holding elections in Delhi on time, they will stop doing politics.

Reasons for the integration of the Municipal Corporation

Raja Iqbal Singh, Mayor of Northern Corporation, Mukesh Suryan of South, and Shyam Sundar Agarwal of East had sent a proposal to the Central Government. The three mayors had said in this resolution that due to the poor financial condition of the corporations, there is a delay in getting the salaries of the employees, and development works are being affected, so there is a need to unite them.
