New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) The BJP accepts its "massive defeat" in Delhi assembly elections with humility and will play a role of "constructive opposition", party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference here, Prasad, the communications minister, said it was an issue that needs serious introspection and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will do so.
"We accept our massive defeat. The party will think over it," he said adding that the BJP failed to sense the mood of Delhi's people, who in the 2014 general elections, had voted for BJP overwhelmingly, giving it all the seven Lok Sabha seats.
"They voted for us then but now as they have voted for AAP, we respect their mandate," the minister said.
Now it was up to the AAP to fulfil the promises they have made with the people, said Prasad.
He also sought to clarify that Modi government at the centre would support AAP government in Delhi as per its policy of supporting all states on the path of development.
