
Chandigarh, March 28 (IANS) Border Security Force (BSF) troopers shot dead a Pakistani smuggler in the Amritsar sector along the India-Pakistan border on Saturday and recovered 24 kg heroin.
A BSF spokesman said that the heroin recovered was worth nearly Rs.120 crore in the international market.
The BSF spokesman said the troopers retaliated in self-defence after they were fired upon by the smugglers. The body of the Pakistani smuggler was found during the search operations on Saturday.
The BSF has recovered nearly 110 kg heroin in the Punjab sector this year. The BSF had seized 18 kg of heroin in the Gurdaspur sector on March 23.
