Budget 2023-24: Sitharaman holds meetings with state finance ministers, takes suggestions and inputs on the upcoming budget

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a pre-budget meeting with finance ministers of all states and union territories. The objective of the meeting was to take inputs and suggestions for the upcoming budget for the year 2023-24.

 

 

This meeting was held in the capital Delhi on Friday. Apart from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Finance Ministers of State/UTs, Union Ministers of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary and Bhagwat Karad, Secretaries of various wings of Union Finance Ministry, Chief Economic Advisor Ananth Nageswaran and others were present in the meeting.

 

 

More details about the meeting have not been shared yet. Let us tell you that Sitharaman has so far held a pre-budget consultation meeting with many experts and industry representatives, including experts from the agriculture and food processing industry. The first meeting was held on Monday.

 

The formal exercise of preparing the annual budget for the next financial year 2023-24 began on October 10. The budget for 2023-24 is likely to be presented on February 1. Let us tell you that this will be the last full budget of the Modi 2.0 government before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Assembly elections are to be held in April-May of 2024.
