Budget Session From Feb 23 (Lead)

New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS) The budget session of parliament will begin Feb 23 and the union budget would be presented Feb 28.

The first part of the session would be from Feb 23 to March 20 and the second part from April 20 to May 8, an official said Wednesday.

The railway budget would be presented Feb 26 and the economic survey Feb 27.

The decision on the parliament session was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs held here.

The session will begin with the address of President Pranab Mukherjee to a joint sitting of both the houses - Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

During the session, the government will seek to try and get bills on six ordinances promulgated recently passed.

The ordinances include those on coal, mines and minerals, e-rickshaws, amendment to citizenship act, land acquisition and one on FDI in insurance sector.
