The Chinese Center for Disease Control (CDC) report said that as of April, about 4.4 percent of the city's 11 million (one million) people had developed antibodies against the pathogen causing Covid-19. According to this, by April, 4,80,000 people of Wuhan had been infected, while the official figure is only 50,000 cases. This is ten times more.

77 days lockdown was imposed in Wuhan

Huang Yanzhong, Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) Global Health, told AFP that the discrepancy revealed by the CDC's data could point to possible underreporting due to the chaos in late January and early February. At that time a large number of people were not properly corona examined. The CDC said that only 0.44 percent of people in central Hubei province outside of Wuhan had developed antibodies to the virus. The lockdown, which was implemented for 77 days in the city, helped prevent the spread of the disease.

Why is there much difference in China's data?

The findings of the survey of more than 34,000 people across the country in April were released late Monday. China does not include non-symptomatic cases in its official figures. Due to this also, the difference between total cases and confirmed cases can be understood. According to data from the National Health Commission, the total coronavirus cases in China as of Wednesday are 87,027, while so far 4,634 people have died.
