In Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has given a Diwali gift to the employees of the state government. Here the state employees have been given a double gift in the form of a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance and ad-hoc bonus on Diwali.

The Chief Minister has approved a three percent increase in the rate of dearness allowance of state employees and dearness relief payable to pensioners on the lines of central government employees. Now the dearness relief rate including 31 percent dearness allowance will be payable to state employees and pensioners from July 1, 2021. Earlier, 28 percent dearness allowance was being given to state employees-pensioners.

Apart from the state employees, this benefit will also be payable to the employees of Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad in charge of work. The amount of increased dearness allowance of the employees from July 1, 2021, to September 30, 2021, will be deposited in their General Provident Fund, General Provident Fund-2004, or General Provident Fund-SAB account.

It is noteworthy that with the announcement of an increase in dearness allowance by the central government, the Chief Minister has decided to increase the rate of dearness allowance of state employees by 3 percent. The state government will bear the financial burden of about Rs 1230 crore annually on this increase.

This benefit will be available to state employees drawing pay in the Pay Matrix Level-12 or Grade Pay-4800 and below, except State Service Officers (Gazetted). This bonus will also be payable to the employees of Panchayat Samiti, Zilla Parishad, and work-charged employees. The ad-hoc bonus will be calculated for the year 2020-21 based on maximum emoluments of Rs.7 thousand and a month of 31 days. This bonus will be payable for 30 days.
