The Supreme Court has issued a notice in the FIR against Manish Maheshwari, former MD of Twitter India, and sought a reply. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Uttar Pradesh government's plea in the sensitive video uploading case and on Friday asked former Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari to respond within four weeks. The UP government has challenged in the Supreme Court the order of the Karnataka High Court quashing the notice seeking Maheshwari's presence to investigate a sensitive video.
Let us inform that the UP Police had approached the Supreme Court against the High Court's decision in favor of Maheshwari regarding the video giving a communal angle to the beating of a Muslim elder in Ghaziabad. The Ghaziabad police had also filed an FIR against Twitter in this case and called Manish Maheshwari, former MD of Twitter India, to the police station for questioning. However, Maheshwari had filed an application in the Karnataka High Court on this, which stayed any action against him.
Not only this, but Manish Maheshwari himself has also filed a caveat in the Supreme Court. In this, Maheshwari has demanded that his side should also be heard before hearing on the application filed by the UP government. A video of an elderly man from the Loni area of Ghaziabad went viral on Twitter recently. In this video, the elderly had been accused of being beaten up, beard cut, and forcibly raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram for being a Muslim. However, this was denied in the investigation of the UP Police. Police said that the matter was related to Tantric practice and due to that he was beaten up by the youths.
Not only this, but many of the youths accused of beating him also belong to the Muslim community. In such a situation, after the claim was found to be false, a case was registered on behalf of the UP Police against the people who gave communal color to the video. In one of these cases, the name of Twitter has also been included. Let us tell you that Twitter has transferred its Manish Maheshwari to America.
