Bad news has come out of Sri Lanka's camp ahead of the second test match against Australia. Three players on the team Dhananjaya de Silva, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Asitha Fernando were found to be Kovid positive before the second Test. The second Test between Sri Lanka and Australia is scheduled to start on 8 July (Friday) at the Galle International Stadium in Galle.
Sri Lanka Cricket said on Thursday, "During the rapid antigen test conducted yesterday, all three players were found positive." Australia beat Sri Lanka by ten wickets to comfortably win the first Test and lead the two-match Test series 1–0.
The Sri Lankan cricket team had to face problems due to Kovid in the first match as well. The team's star batsman Angelo Mathews was found to be Kovid positive on the second day, after which Oshada Fernando was included in his place on the third day of the game. However, the good news is that Mathews has recovered from Kovid and will be available for selection in the second Test. If any player is found to be Kovid positive, then he will have to stay in isolation for five days.
Australia won the T20I series against Sri Lanka 2–1, while the hosts won the series 3–2 to capture the ODI trophy. Australia will be eyeing the second Test and series win.
