Amidst the growing threat of Omicron, India has taken another step forward in the fight against Corona. Vaccination of children of 15-18 years is going to start from January 3 in the country. Children will also have to register for this. The registration process for children on Covin is going to start from January 1. RS Sharma, head of the Covin platform, said that the registration for the vaccination of children in the age group of 15-18 years will start from January 1 on Covin. Aadhar card will be required for this. If someone does not have aadhar card or any other identity card then they can use a student id card for registration.
Because of the spurt in the cases of the new variant Omicron of Corona, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 December announced three major decisions in the fight against Corona, including starting vaccination for 15-18 years olds from January. Apart from this, making another big announcement, the PM had said that from January 10, booster dose will be started for the elderly, health workers, and frontline workers above 60 years of age.
Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister had said that so far 61 percent of the adult population in the country has been given both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 90 percent of the adult population has been given the first dose. The government believes that immunization of 15-18-year-olds is likely to help in the normalization of education in schools and will reduce the anxiety of parents as well as school-going children.
