Coronavirus In India: Corona virus spreading again in the country, 349 cases of XBB.1.16 variant came to the fore

Coronavirus is once again spreading its foot in the country. According to INSACOG data, 349 cases of Covid variant XBB.1.16 have been reported. All these 349 cases were reported from 9 states and union territories. The maximum number of cases have been reported from Maharashtra. 105 cases were registered in this state.

 

At the same time, 93 cases have been reported in Telangana, 61 in Karnataka, and 54 in Gujarat. Let us tell you that the first case of the XBB 1.16 variant came to the fore in January. In February, 140 samples of this variant were revealed. The sample figure was 207 in March.

More than seven thousand active cases in the country

Let us tell you that on Thursday, 1300 new cases of the corona were reported in the country. This is the highest number of cases reported in the last 140 days. There are currently 7,605 active cases of Covid in the country. At the same time, the death toll due to Covid has reached 5,30,816.

 

No need to be afraid of this variant: Randeep Guleria

Former AIIMS director Dr. Randeep Guleria said on Wednesday that there is no need to panic over the new XBB.1.16 variant. People are not going to face much trouble due to this infection. According to him, this is a new variant of Corona XBB.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday as the country recorded a spike in influenza and coronavirus cases over the past two weeks.

 

India accounts for about 1 percent of global cases

Giving information related to Corona, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, 'So far, about 1 percent of the total global cases have been registered in India. Active cases are now 7,600.

 

He further informed that on average 966 cases are being reported daily. Whereas, in the second week of February, an average of 108 cases were being reported daily, now it has increased to 966.
