Cyclonic storm Gulab hit the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha around 7 pm. With this, rain has started in Srikakulam, Andhra with strong winds. Here a boat collided with a storm along the coast. There were 6 fishermen in it. All of them fell into the sea when the boat hit a strong wave. Two of these died. Three reached the shore safely and one fisherman is still missing. The Navy is conducting a rescue operation in search of him. The accident happened on the Mandasa coast.
The cyclone has crossed North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coast. Due to this, heavy rains are occurring in the northern part of Andhra and the southern part of Odisha.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert in the northern areas of Andhra Pradesh and southern areas of Odisha. In Odisha, 24 teams of NDRF, 42 teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force were deployed and 1600 people were shifted to a safe place.
Yellow alert issued in Digha, Bengal
Because of the apprehension of cyclone Gulab, a yellow alert has been issued by the administration in Digha, a famous tourist center in East Medinipur district of Bengal, taking lessons from the devastation at the time of the last Yes storm. Apart from vacating the hotels, the electricity connection of Triphala Light has been switched off. Before the storm, the havoc of heavy rains has started in the Jhargram district of Bengal.

On Sunday evening, this storm will hit the coast near Kalingapatnam between northern Andhra Pradesh (Visakhapatnam) and southern Odisha (Gopalpur). During this, the speed of winds will be between 75 kmph to 85 kmph. Winds can reach up to 95 kmph as the storm intensifies. This storm will move continuously in the west direction till South Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Goa, and Gujarat. During this, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in all these areas from Sunday to Tuesday morning.

According to the Meteorological Department, Pakistan has given this storm the name Gulab. The correct way of speaking is called Gul-Aab. The name is drawn from a list prepared by the World Meteorological Institute/United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia-Pacific and the Panel on Cyclonic Storms.
