Posted on 20th Nov 2024 10:17 am by rohit kumar

Wednesday morning brought some relief news in Delhi. The Air Quality Index has come down slightly from 500. But it is still in the very severe category. Whereas last morning the AQI was at 500. The fog was seen in the city. The Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert. Visibility in the Safdarjung area has been recorded at 500 meters.

Delhi government made this announcement.

According to the information received, visibility was low at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, causing 119 flights to be delayed and 6 to be canceled. Schools and colleges have been closed due to toxic air. Construction work has been banned in the city because Grape-4 is applicable. At the same time, Delhi Minister Gopal Rai has announced work from home for 50 percent of Delhi government employees.

Orange alert in Delhi

If the Meteorological Department is to be believed, this fog situation will remain on 19 and 20-21 November. The department issued an orange alert for this on the 19th and a yellow alert for 20-21. In fact, after the western disturbance left, a mild cold was felt from Sunday and it continued on Monday as well. This reduced the day temperature. Now a weak western disturbance will knock between 23 and 25 November, but its effect will be limited to the mountains. Due to the mild effect of the disturbance of the west, the minimum temperature can reach 13 degrees on 20 and 21 November. But after that, the maximum and minimum temperatures will start increasing again.

No effect is visible despite the implementation of GRAP

The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is in force to prevent rising pollution. Despite this, there is no relief in the reduction of pollution. In such a situation, people are forced to breathe in stifling air. The responsible agencies and departments are fearless. Construction work is being done despite the ban on construction and demolition work.
