IPL 2026: Good News for Delhi Capitals—Mitchell Starc to Join the Team Soon; Cricket Australia Gives Approval

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been cleared by Cricket Australia (CA) to play competitive cricket. Following this clearance from CA, Mitchell Starc is set to join the Delhi Capitals (DC) squad for the 2026 IPL season. Starc, who has remained sidelined from the IPL thus far due to elbow and shoulder issues, is expected to join the Delhi Capitals shortly. There is a strong possibility that Starc will feature in Delhi’s match against the Rajasthan Royals on May 1st.

Starc developed shoulder and elbow issues while playing in the five-Test Ashes series, followed by the Big Bash League. Starc played in all five Tests of the Ashes series and was named the Player of the Series. Starc’s absence from the IPL had been drawing criticism on social media. Addressing this, he recently took to social media to present his side of the story.

 

 

Starc Apologized to Fans

Starc wrote: “Despite the opinions and views expressed by certain individuals within—and through—the Indian media, I am currently undergoing rehabilitation and management for shoulder and elbow injuries; the severity of which I was unaware of during the Australian summer. These individuals have made some harsh statements regarding my participation in the IPL and have offered highly inaccurate assessments of the players involved—presenting them as absolute truths—while claiming to understand my body better than I do myself.”

 

 

A Key Addition for Delhi

Starc further added: “I acknowledge that the timing of this injury poses a challenge for the Delhi team, and I sincerely apologize to the fans for this situation and for my unavailability during the early stages of this season. I remain fully committed to joining DC and have been keeping the team consistently updated on my progress.” Mitchell Starc’s inclusion will undoubtedly bolster the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack and pose a greater challenge for opposing teams. DC currently sits in fifth place on the points table, having secured six points from six matches—recording three wins and three losses.
