Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accused in the money laundering case related to the excise policy scam, has filed a petition in the Rouse Avenue Court for bail. The Delhi CM's petition will be heard in the Rouse Avenue Court at 2 pm.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Supreme Court Registry refused to immediately list for hearing the petition seeking an extension of CM Kejriwal's interim bail by a week to undergo medical examination.
The arrest was made on March 21
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 after two hours of questioning in the money laundering case related to the excise policy 'scam'. He has been in custody since then. On May 10, the Supreme Court granted CM Kejriwal 21 days of interim bail for the Lok Sabha election campaign, which expires on June 1. After this, he has been asked to surrender on June 2.
What is ED's allegation?
The ED alleges that the Delhi Chief Minister played an important role in drafting the now-canceled excise policy and demanding bribes in exchange for liquor licenses. The agency has claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party had received bribes worth Rs 100 crore which was used for its Goa and Punjab election campaigns.
