The latest numbers highlight continued growth in the bank's profitability during the first quarter of the current financial year.

SBI Asset Quality Improves as NPAs Decline

Another key positive from the SBI Q1 results was the improvement in the bank's asset quality.

Both Gross Non-Performing Assets (Gross NPA) and Net Non-Performing Assets (Net NPA) declined compared with the year-ago period.

A reduction in bad loans is generally considered a positive indicator for a bank because it can reduce credit-related stress and support overall asset quality.

The stock was trading 3.21% higher at ₹1,119.80 on Friday following the earnings announcement.

The bank's Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR) stood at 74.20% during the same period.

These indicators are closely watched by investors because they provide insight into a bank's capital strength and ability to absorb potential credit losses.

Government Holds 55.03% Stake in SBI
