Reliance Power Shares Surge: What’s Driving the Massive Rally After Stock Fell to ₹24?

Reliance Power shares gained around 3% in early trading, touching ₹25.30, after the Anil Ambani-led company reported strong year-on-year growth in its first-quarter results for FY2026-27. The company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹6,471 lakh for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, up nearly 45% from ₹4,468 lakh in the same quarter last year.

According to the company’s filings with the stock exchanges, Reliance Power reported a consolidated net profit of ₹6,471 lakh for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.

 

This represents an increase of nearly 45% compared with the ₹4,468 lakh net profit reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

 

The company’s total income also increased during the quarter. Total income stood at ₹2,10,375 lakh, compared with ₹2,02,531 lakh in the year-ago period.

 

The improvement in quarterly profit and income provided positive momentum to Reliance Power shares in the stock market.

 

Reliance Power Share Price Rises to ₹25.30

 

Reliance Power shares gained around 3% during early trading, reaching an intraday high of ₹25.30.

 

Despite the latest rise, the stock remains significantly below its level from June 2025. At that time, Reliance Power shares were trading around ₹70.

 

At ₹25.30, the stock is down approximately 64% from that earlier level, highlighting the sharp volatility in the counter over the past year.

 

Reliance Power Faces Debt and Legal Challenges

 

Despite the improvement in quarterly financial performance, Reliance Power continues to face challenges.

 

According to the information provided in the company’s filings, a lender to its subsidiary Samalkot Power Limited (SMPL) has filed an application seeking initiation of Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) proceedings over a claim of ₹1,84,196 lakh.

 

The company is also facing investigations involving agencies including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), according to the disclosures cited.

 

Reliance Power Exploring Asset Sales to Reduce Debt

 

The company’s management is considering various measures to address its financial obligations, including potential asset sales to repay debt.

 

The developments surrounding debt, legal proceedings and regulatory investigations remain important factors for investors even as the company reports stronger quarterly profitability.
