Delhi Oxygen Crisis: Delhi High Court Seeks Answer From Central Government In Help Of Army

The Delhi High Court has sought a reply from the Central Government on a letter written by Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Government Manish Sisodia to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh amid deteriorating conditions in the capital Delhi. A bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rekha Palli directed Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma to submit a report in this regard after taking instructions from the Central Government.

 

Senior advocate Abhinav Vashisht said that how can this happen? Oxygen coming from long distances is stopped in the state. Now a hospital stopped the tanker for demanding more oxygen. He said that this is a time when the army's help is sought. He has other equipment including a tanker and can do it. In response, Delhi Government Standing Counsel Rahul Mehra told the bench that on May 2, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has conveyed the defense minister Rajnath Singh regarding the help of the army. He also read the letter written in this regard. Senior advocate Krishnan Venugopal also suggested to the bench regarding seeking help from the army. He had said that the Army can solve the oxygen problem by building a field hospital.

 

During the hearing, Delhi HC stated that AAP (Batra Hospital) had asked suppliers to deliver (oxygen cylinder) which was provided. You cannot use force and seize the vehicle. If this happens, the entire system will collapse.

At the same time, on Monday, the Delhi High Court dismissed a petition demanding that news channels should report on Corona deaths with appropriate guidelines. The petition stated that this spreads negativity. On this, the High Court dismissed the petition saying that showing the death toll from Corona is not negative.

 

On the other hand, various hospitals treating Corona patients kept pleading for oxygen on Sunday. Due to the exhaustion of oxygen in hospitals, the breath of patients' patients was also stuck. It was informed by Madhukar Rainbow Children's Hospital in Malviya Nagar that they had only a few hours of oxygen left. While 50 patients including four newborns are on oxygen support. The hospital administration said that there are a total of 80 patients admitted, including 15 newborns. A total of 50 patients are on oxygen support. The hospital does not have an oxygen storage tank. They depend only on the cylinder.

 

Officers provided 20 cylinders at half-past one in the afternoon. However, they need 125 cylinders per day. At the same time, Triton Hospital in Kalkaji was also told that they are constantly facing an oxygen shortage. The hospital said that a major accident could occur if the oxygen supply was not smoothed soon. AAP MLA Raghav Chadha told that five cylinders have been sent to the hospital.

 

At the same time, Sitaram Bhartia Hospital tweeted that they have 45 corona patients admitted. Oxygen is required by 5 p.m. Significantly, on Saturday, 12 patients, including a doctor, died at Batra Hospital due to the depletion of oxygen. Of these, six patients were admitted in the ward and six in ICU and all were on oxygen support.
