After Diwali, the level of pollution in Delhi's air reaches dangerous levels. The air of the city becomes poisonous. It becomes difficult to breathe. The biggest reason behind this is said to be the firecrackers and fireworks burnt on Diwali. Despite the ban, the noise and smoke of firecrackers continue on the night of Diwali.

 

The air is not fit to breathe till morning. This situation is not only seen in Delhi but also in adjoining Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad, where the AQI (Air Quality Index) reaches dangerous levels. This time pollution has started increasing in Delhi from October 15 itself, due to which many restrictions have been imposed.

 

How much AQI is dangerous

 

In terms of health, AQI from 0 to 50 is considered the best, but as its level increases, the danger to health increases. An AQI of 51-100 is considered satisfactory, 101 to 200 is normal, 201 to 300 is bad, 301 to 400 is very bad, and 401 to 500 is considered severe, which is extremely dangerous.

 

How harmful is Delhi's polluted air?

 

The particulate matter (PM) present in the air is no less than poison for our lungs. These are particles found in the air, whose size is 2.5 micrometers or less. This can also cause premature death, as they have a serious effect on the lungs. According to WHO, PM 2.5 more than 5 micrograms per cubic meter in the air is dangerous and harmful.

 

For whom is polluted air more harmful?

 

Doctors say that the smoke emitted from firecrackers and Delhi's pollution can be dangerous for people's health. It is especially harmful to children, the elderly, and patients. For people who have any lung or heart disease, breathing in this air can also be fatal. Pollution causes difficulty in breathing, which can cause asthma or any respiratory disease in them prematurely.

Delhi's toxic air can have the greatest impact on the health of children and the elderly. Due to this, the heart tubes of the elderly swell, and blood clotting can occur, which can lead to a heart attack. The poisonous air of firecrackers can also damage the lungs of respiratory patients or normal people.
