Karnataka Dengue Cases Karnataka is witnessing a steady increase in dengue cases. Due to the rapidly increasing cases, the Siddaramaiah government has also come into action mode and declared dengue an 'epidemic disease'.
Action will be taken against those who do not follow the rules
Along with this, the government has also given strict instructions to the officials to punish those who do not follow the rules. Action will also be taken against those who fail to take measures to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
Amendment in Epidemic Disease Regulation
The government has also introduced amendments to the Karnataka Epidemic Disease Regulation 2020, ordering people to be more responsible in preventing the spread of vector-borne disease. The amendment proposes penalties in three categories - domestic, commercial, and active construction areas.
Fine up to Rs 2000 for not following the rules
For houses in urban and rural areas, the government has imposed a fine of Rs 400 and Rs 200. For commercial work, the fine will be Rs 1,000 in urban areas and Rs 500 in rural areas.
Owners of active construction areas providing space for mosquito breeding will be fined Rs 2,000 in urban areas and Rs 1,000 in rural areas.
These rules have to be followed
As per the rules, owners and occupiers of domestic buildings must take necessary measures to prevent mosquito breeding. According to the notification, people should ensure to cover or secure water storage containers, sumps, or overhead tanks with a lid or any other material to prevent mosquito breeding.
