The Bengal government's bill 'Aparajita Mahila and Bal Bill (West Bengal Criminal Law and Amendment) Bill 2024' aims to strengthen the protection of women and children by amending the new provisions related to rape and harrasment offenses. In such a situation, the state government had announced to convene a two-day special session of the Legislative Assembly from Monday. In this special session, the anti-rape bill was introduced by the state Law Minister Moloy Ghatak on Tuesday. At the same time, Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari said that they want the bill to be made a law and implemented as soon as possible.

Former Principal Sandip Ghosh arrested

In the RG Kar Medical College case of Kolkata, former Principal of RG Kar Medical College Sandip Ghosh has been arrested by the CBI. It is being told that Sandip Ghosh has been arrested in a corruption case. In fact, during the investigation itself, a former officer of the medical college had made serious allegations of corruption against Sandip Ghosh, who was also investigated by the CBI.
